An
above ground dog fence is the classic kind of fence that you most
likely saw in places with dogs as you grew up. While these fences
are still available, there are now also other kinds of fences that
are being used more and more.
One of the most popular alternatives is an electrical, wireless fence
that is installed below the ground. However, lest you rush to buy
one of these, you should know that there are still advantages to having
a more traditional fence.
Some of these advantages are:
• Reliability – While there are some nice things about
below ground fences, the fact is that fences that are chain link and
above ground are simply more reliable. These fences will always work
and they will not only keep your dog in, but also they will keep other
animals out. For example, a wireless fence only works on those animals
that are wearing a certain collar. Because it is unlikely that you
would get a collar for every stray dog, cat, and raccoon in your area,
a physical fence would be your best shot.
• Attractive – In some cases, if you are looking to do
some landscaping around your home, a nice picket fence is a great
thing to have to add some flavor to your home. A fence underground
simply will not be able to do this for you. If you are going to spend
the money on a fence anyway, you might as well spend it on something
that will be effective and make your yard look nicer.
These are just a couple of reasons why you may be better off with
an above ground dog fence. As you continue to try to understand what
kind of fence would be best for you, it could be a good idea to simply
evaluate your needs and then do a comparison of the two fences to
see what needs are met with each of the two kinds of fences.
