If
you mention getting an
invisible fence, for small dog owners, you might as well have
insulted their mothers. The reason: many small dog owners believe
an invisible fence would cause too much damage on their precious little
dogs.
While it certainly is true that a dachshund could not take the same
kind of shock as a pit bull, what some people don’t realize
is that there are several different settings that can be used with
these fences.
For example, if you buy a system, you can often change the level
of the charge that it gives off to your dog. In fact, there are actually
some very low settings that feel no more painful than the small shock
you might get from touching a doorknob after shuffling your feet on
the carpet of your home.
Still, if you do not want your small dog to experience any kind of
a shock, there are invisible fences that instead of giving a shock
they make a beeping noise. Your dog must first be trained, but once
the training is complete, the beeping noise is often enough to help
your dog understand that he has entered forbidden territory and that
he needs to turn back.
Installing an invisible fence for small dog owners may seem unkind,
but in reality in can help your relationship with your dog because
he will no longer disobey your wishes. This will mean that you will
need to punish him less and can instead play with him more.
