The
invisible wireless dog fence is something of a revolutionary new
system in the evolution of dog fences. It has grown in popularity
because it provides the simplest form of pet containment created thus
far.
The way that wireless systems work is somewhat different from how
traditional electric fences work. Wireless systems actually emit,
from the transmitter, a radio signal that travels around your home.
Your dog who is hooked up to this system wears a lightweight receiver
collar which listens for the signal coming from the transmitter. While
the transmitter is receiving the signal, your dog is free to run,
jump, and play just as it normally would.
When your dog begins to get close to the boundary of the signal area,
the collar that he is wearing receives a warning beep. Your dog will
understand what the beep is if he has been properly trained.
If the dog continues to straddle the fence line without moving away,
it will receive a small, light correction. This “shock”
is usually not painful, but instead more startling to your dog than
anything else.
After just a few weeks of training, your dog can easily learn the
boundaries that are within the wireless dog fence. It is not hard
to set the boundaries in your yard. As a matter of fact, setting the
boundaries of your yard takes no more than a matter of minutes.
To set up the borders, all you need to do is adjust the range setting
on the transmitter, from a radius of just a few feet and up to about
90 feet.
One of the things that allows an invisible wireless dog fence to
endear itself to people is the fact that there are no unattractive
poles that you need to set up and there are no wires you need to bury
in the yard.
